What is a sty?
Wheaty, also known as stylosis, stylosis, etc., is a common eye infection disease. It usually occurs near the eyelash root of the eyelid and is caused by infection of the eyelash follicle. Wheat granuloma is often seen in children and adolescents, but it can occur at any age. The disease usually presents redness, swelling and pain at the initial stage, and then forms a small granular process, which may eventually ulcerate and discharge pus.

How to judge whether it is a sty?
Symptom judgment:
In general, the main symptoms of sty include:
1. Redness, swelling and pain: The infected area will usually appear redness and swelling, accompanied by a certain degree of pain.
2. Blepharitis: At the beginning of infection, the skin near the eyelids may become red and swollen, causing symptoms of blepharitis.
3. Granular protrusion: With the development of inflammation, the infected part may form a protrusion the size of a millet, which may cause local tenderness when touching.
4. Purulent discharge: When inflammation develops to a certain extent, the protrusions may burst and discharge pus, but not all cases will burst.
In case of the above symptoms, it can be initially suspected that it is styloma, but in order to make a diagnosis, it still needs to go to the hospital for further examination.
Hospital:
If you suspect that you have style, you should choose the nearest regular hospital for treatment. Diagnosis and treatment can be carried out in the ophthalmology department of major general hospitals or professional ophthalmology hospitals. For example, the ophthalmology department of Peking Union Medical College Hospital and the ophthalmology department of Shanghai Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital are all hospitals with ophthalmologists.
Doctor's diagnosis:
When visiting the hospital, ophthalmologists usually use the following methods to confirm the diagnosis:
1. Medical history inquiry: The doctor will ask your medical history to understand your symptoms, manifestations, attack frequency, etc.
2. Visual inspection: The doctor will use professional instruments to check your eyes, including the eyelid, cornea, sclera and other parts.
3. Color photography: doctors may use color photography equipment to record the photos of the affected area, so as to observe and record the changes of the condition.
4. Laboratory examination: In some cases, doctors may collect pus and other samples for bacterial culture and drug sensitivity tests to determine the infected pathogens and their drug sensitivity.
Other inspection:
In some special cases, doctors may recommend additional examinations to exclude other eye diseases or confirm the diagnosis. These examinations may include intraocular pressure measurement, ophthalmic ultrasound, eye CT scanning, etc.
